There are many good freebies in Second Life but there are quite a few awesome great quality freebies to be found in and out of Second Life that can be used in Second Life itself. Useful items that has a theme and is designed around that theme. One of those is the creations that are labelled as Hobo. I suppose Hobo simply means homeless or poor. But the items are anything but poor. The details is amazing and the best of all, absolutely free.
I read the Hobo stuff were created by Arcadia Asylum who has since retired. A pity. I am sure these items can be sold for a very good price. Some people tried to do so, unethical of course. There are other Hobo stuff created by other people but why pay when you get equal or better quality for free? By the way these items are very popular and if you haven’t already heard of them, you’re in luck because they’re quite difficult to find in world since the owner closed shop.
Bicycle
Anyway what are in the Hobo stuff? Well ever wanted a bicycle that has the animations bundled in? I mean simple peddling animation? Then nothing is more beautiful rendered than the following Hobo bicycle. Why go for BMX and what nots when this is the ultimate tool for transport?
[Buy it for free at SL Exchange]
I used the bicycle for my tour in Everwind and it was fantastic. Apparently if you click on the radio you will hear music. I didn’t know that until I am writing about it now.
Raft
Then there’s the Hobo Raft to travel by sea. I can’t begin to tell you how detailed it looks when in Second Life. You can bring a fellow passenger, this raft can be steered like a boat and is tilted a bit to reflect the weight and click on the simmering pot and you will have food complete with eating animation. Really loaded with stuff and beautiful too. So it looks like a Hobo, so what? By the way that avatar isn’t me.

Bicycle Blimp
You can also use a Hobo Bicycle Blimp for travelling by air! The creator definitely covered all areas. I haven’t tried it yet but it does look beautiful and awesome.

Dive & Salvage Suit
And finally a Hobo dive and salvage suit to cover even under the sea exploration. No submarines here because Hobos work low tech you see. Looks good, haven’t tried because I didn’t want my hair wet.

Boots
Then there’s the complimentary accessories such as the hobo boots! Looks good and detailed. Usually a detailed shoe will cost you anywhere above L$300. I haven’t tried this though since I have yet to find a Hobo suit to match the Hobo boots.

Backpack
Of course you’ll need a backpack to pack your clothes right? No worries. There’s the Hobo backpack that is essential item because Hobo has no homes so the backpack is his or her home. Heavy stuff and cute too, notice the teddybear ala Mr Bean. By the way that isn’t me.

Laundry
Of course after awhile all your clothes will be dirty so you will need to wash your clothes. There’s the outdoor Hobo laundry. Nothing much actually, just decoration but with bubbles effect. Cute and just imagine you got all your hobo stuff out. You really do look like you’re camping!

Outhouse = toilet
And when nature calls what do you do? No worries! There’s even a Hobo Outhouse comes complete with open/close door function and light. No flushing though since this is an outhouse!

Tent
I was so in awe with the creator’s very complete Hobo set when then I though where would Hobo sleep for the night? Ah ha! You didn’t think the creator would forget that important aspect eh? No way! There’s the best that I saved for last, Hobo Puptent! It comes complete with a bicycle attached at the back, a pillow inside with light, a campfire and baked beans cooking in the pot! I think I heard bubbling sound and fire crackling too! The only criticism is that your avatar sits in the tent, doesn’t sleep but you know, the picture does no justice to the level of details. Simply amazing!

Other Essentials
But that’s not all. To complete your Hobo experience, why not get the following for free too?
Matching avatar
And last but not least, to really the whole Hobo look with all the fantastic items above all created by Arcadia Asylum, why not consider changing your whole appearance to even look like a homeless man? Apparently when typing the homeless man will go searching through a garbage bin! I haven’t tried it but sure will soon! By the way this is not by Arcadia Asylum.
Important Note
There are many more items created by Arcadia Asylum that is not Hobo stuff but still amazing, more like urban stuff. You can also find many more Hobo related stuff that is created by someone else but believe me, for the price of L$0, what Arcadia Asylum did was simply amazing. The qualities are good and the animation top notch. Try on the Hobo now! Remember, all the above items created by Arcadia Asylum are L$0 meaning freebies.
Tips
You must first register an account at slexchange.com. Then you must fill in your avatar’s name, go inworld, find a SL Exchange hub, click on the computer hub, type in the password that you would see in your account at slexchange (which you can request for a new one anytime). And then go to the pages above, log in, click BUY and go inworld and the item is delivered almost instantly. It’s that easy!
Then go to a place, such a Sandbox and open the items if they’re boxed. If you hate the crowded place, try the Sirena Hair & Fashion shop where the owner had some small places meant for opening boxed items? The coordinates are West Sunset (160,50,22). For a more private place for girls, why not try The Pink House at 100Limite (179,149,449)? Strictly for girls to change clothes and hang out but I discover there are no restriction there so you can open boxes there and even build stuff but make sure you clean up afterwards. By the way now I remembered I don’t think the items are boxed at all. So you can immediately use them in world. Just look in your inventory and click WEAR. For the tent, please sit first (not on some poseballs or chair, just simply click and choose sit) and then WEAR the tent. The instructions are pretty clear in the notecards.
Then use them all at Everwind! If you took some pictures, do show me please!
I hope you will enjoy your Hobo experience as much as I did.
